OPI — GoldenEye

Happy Meowlloween, kittens! I hope you enjoyed reading about my Top Ten as much as I enjoyed writing about them! Now, back to business.

I've got another color from the OPI Skyfall James Bond Collection to share with you: GoldenEye*.

GoldenEye is a bright, flashy yellow gold. I would say it's less like 14k warm, classic gold and more like every kid's favorite Hanukkah candy, gelt.

The base of GoldenEye is a rosy yellow-orange. The glitter is unusual; to me this seems like more of a really dense flakie. The gold flakes appear irregular.

This color is not for the faint of heart. It's on the loud side for sure. It doesn't just say, "Look at me!" — it screams it. So be prepared for a lot of attention if you end up sporting GoldenEye.

GoldenEye was the perfect color to go with my Halloween costume because I needed something over-the-top and shiny. And definitely something GOLD. Why you ask? Because I was going to be a hamburger. Yes, a hamburger.

Yes! A GlamBurger! I bought some neon green tulle to serve as my "Lettuce Wrap," added some much needed American Cheese to the neckline and created some ginormous cheeseburgers for my... buns.

What did you guys dress up as for Halloween? And of course I want to know, did your nails play a starring role in your costume?

Spotted: Stiletto Done Right

There I was, battling the masses at Target. I was on the defensive. My mission was to get in, get out and OH why hello there... Distraction! Gold glitter! Peachy orange! A stiletto nail!

I spotted Kia, who was sporting a wearable version on the on-trend stiletto nail. Note how her nails taper to a subtle point but avoid looking like sharp daggers. She also chose a girly, friendly peach instead of a dark vamp or blood red shade. It keeps the mood light and playful instead of dark and deadly.

Nice work, Kia! (And nice to meet ya.) ;)

Appallishment — MTV Movie Awards

I've decided to add an entire new category to Polishment. I already cover Five Finger Discount (free giveaways), Nailed It! (awesome nails spotted in the wild) and All Thumbs (DIY nail art), among other topics. And now I present: Appallishment. Utterly appalling nails. A Hall of Shame, if you will. I owe my inspiration to the MTV Movie Awards. It's been quite some time since I've seen such... talons. Check out one of my favorite sites, Jezebel, to read commentary on the overall fashion at the awards. I'm here for the nails and nothing but the nails.

And yet... it wasn't all bad! Here are some of the good guys:

What do you guys think? Did I skip any awesomely (or awesomely appalling) manis?
