Spotted: Mademoiselle Marie — Part Eight

Well, the month is nearly halfway over and I realized that I forgot to tell you...

...that I came up with a theme for my January posts!

It wasn’t technically deliberate. I was coming up with my Nail Planz for the month and it seemed like almost everything was revolving around…

GLITTER.

So, last week brought you Marie’s (and my!) Red Sparkle Mani plus Alpha’s Gobs of Gold Glitter. And we can't forget Whiskey's Snow Globe Mani.

Between now and the end of January, you can expect four (yes, four) more glitter-centric manicures, modeled by moi. And did I mention that two of these will feature HTFs?! (That’s “hard to find,” if you’re new to the nail blogger lingo.)

We’ll also talk about the various types of glitter, which of course leads us to the best way to get all that glitter off!

For today, I shall leave you with another one of Marie’s marvelous manicures. And yeah... there's glitter.

If you've been loving Mademoiselle Marie's manis (the eighth installment already... hard to believe!) then give thanks this day, because it's her birthday. :) SHOUT OUT TO MY PAL MARIE!!

Marie goes to Marie's Nails on 3rd Street here in Los Angeles. Her good friend Shigeko Kawaguchi is the artist responsible for Marie's polished look.

Spotted: Kris & Her Bling Bling Accent Nail

I’ve made a new friend! Her name is Kris, and she is a Nail Polish Master. Maybe it’s strange to think that two people can become friends over something as simple (don't you dare say "shallow") as nail polish, but we talked for over half an hour! We chatted about our favorite colors, new trends, to gelicure or not to gelicure... She’s pretty cool.

And so are her nails! Look at her 3-D, blinged-out bow!!

Spotted: Mademoiselle Marie — Part Five plus Dessert-y Nailz

May I present one of Marie's more intricate gelicures. Don't be fooled by the demure color palette; this is still pretty wild.

First of all, the glitter. So cool! It's sort of mathematical to me. Index with right half, middle is full, ring finger's left half, pinky is none. It's well-balanced. I like, I like.

For those of you who've ventured into DIY nail art, you can imagine how tricky the design on her thumb is. Dare I even try it?

I know what you're thinking. You're remembering my sorry first attempt at Water Marbling. Yeah, me too. :) Maybe I should stick to simpler paint jobs. ;)

I think one of you with some real artsy talent should try to do Marie's dessert-y marble look. Imagine a tiramisu-themed mani! Did you know sugary sweet nail art is actually kind of a thing? Observe:

Lovely in Lacquer has a great tutorial. Learn how to make these donut nailz!

P.S. Couldn't resist. I found pictures (Google images to the rescue) of the MLP Ice Cream Shoppe, shaped like a shoe nonetheless.

Spotted: Mademoiselle Marie — Part Three

She did it again! Another fantastic manicure on my co-worker Marie. I just love this color! It's such a cheerful blue.
